Below you find some information, advice and rules, which we want you to take note of before your fishing

starts.

 

The area is called Slagnäs-Bastusel fishing area/Slagnäs Fishing Water (Slagnäs Samfallighetsförening) and stretches from Nastajaure (approx. 6 km upstream of Slagnäsforsen, marked "fishing boundary" on the map) down to the dam in Bastusel.

Fishing rules for hand gear:

 

General Regulations:

One rod with a maximum of three hooks on the line is allowed for each person. The hook is only used when you are absolutely sure that the hooked fish has been finned. The fishing license is personal and cannot be transferred to another person. However, children under the age of 16 can fish for free, provided that at least one parent has a fishing license. The card has to be shown on demand.

 

An own boat can be used.

 

Special provisions:         

Within the area from the railway bridge down to Brännuddstrykkan (see map) the following applies: the minimum measured for conifers is 25 and for trout 35 cm. It is forbidden to fish with live and dead bait (marked "worm limit" on the map).

 

New regulations since 2003:   

One fin-clipped trout of the applicable minimum size may be killed per fisherman per day. This fish is the overcultivated and exposed Bergnäsöring. 

 

All wild trout regardless of size and condition must be released. This also includes damaged fish. A description of how correct re-release is done can be found in the fishing license appendix. However, all trout - even those released - must be reported to Slagnäsforsen Camping's catch station.

 

Protection of the wild fish: 

In Slagnäs, every year we release farmed Arctic char to create a better fishery, and these can be recognized by the fact that the fat fin between the tail and dorsal fin has been cut away.

 

The few remaining wild trout in the river always have their fat fins, and we ask you anglers to release these back and thus help preserve the trout stock for the future.

 

Note:

Special rules for the section of the railway bridge and approx. 400 meters downstream: Fishing is prohibited January – second Saturday in June and August 16 - December 31.

 

Fishing is always prohibited above the railway bridge up to the Power Plant and 100 m upstream of the Power Plant.

 

Other:      

We would like you to behave towards others in the same way that you yourself want to be treated.

 

Don't litter nature and burn wisely.

 

A couple of good tips for you who want to be close to and on the water: Use a life jacket and don't drink alcohol!

*            Sport fishing is allowed in the rapids from the 2nd Friday in June (kl:2100) until 15th of August.

*            Fishing with natural bait is forbidden.

*            Fishing is forbidden all year round with any kind of equipment between the railway bridge and the power

              station plus 100m upstream the power station.
